Vraiment curieux
« We talk to Raphael van Lierop about designing the solitude of The Long Dark, how people have used the game to escape, and creating a world which challenges the player to make impossible decisions to survive. »

« I analysed Steam sales data from the last month, and found that:
• The average game is selling around 1,500 units, and making around $16,000, in its first year on sale
• That's down 47% year-over-year
Full report can be found here:

Note that this is based on analyzing only the top 20% of games -- I removed the bottom 80%, as that 80% are barely making any money at all. If I had included all games released on Steam, these numbers would have been waaay more terrifying
The main takeaway for me, personally, is that developers are still pricing their games waaaay too low!
The average $15 game currently makes $35,000 in year one
The average $25 game makes $200,000 in year one!
One final note:
If you see a developer taking an Epic Exclusive deal, leave them the *fuck* alone. Look at the sales numbers above, then genuinely tell me you wouldn't take a deal over running this gauntlet. Taking an Epic deal secures your future, so get off your high horses! »

« I can't comment on how it compares to the others in the franchise but the humor is about what it's always been (according to my colleagues). I guess that means it has always been bad. I think fans will feel right at home OR like they've outgrown literal toilet humor.
This game feels like it was written my immature middle schoolers who think erections & poop are the funniest things in the world. I'm positive that Borderlands 3 thinks drawing a penis in the bathroom stall is the pinnacle of comedy.
Here are some literal things I've heard in Borderlands 3: "get good or die," "like, subscribe, and obey," "That's right, I'm talking SEX STUFF." Some will argue this is meant to be ironic but what exactly is the commentary here? It's not funny or smart. It's just corny & cringey.
Some will argue that Borderlands is a great game to play with friends but just because you're having fun with your friends does not make the game good. I can have fun at Applebees but the food is still bad. (My apologies if you like Borderlands AND Applebees)
One side mission involves helping a Medic who's also a rapper that keeps offering you his mixtape. There's a rare weapon called butt plug. Seriously, the humor feels procedurally generated with internet buzzwords, obvious capitalism/war jokes, sex, and a lot of poop.
The way this game approaches sex jokes reminds me of when kids find sex to be this gross, outrageous, hilarious act because they've never had sex before. At one point you're asked to shoot a character it a dick and when you do it says "DICKED" on screen.
BTW if all of my complaints "sound awesome" to you or are "exactly what [you] want" then cool, this may be a game you love. Personally, I think it's trash & not the good kind of trash. I've liked plenty of basic games but #Borderlands3
has no value to me. I do not recommend it.
Swinging back to clarify some things based on some responses I’ve gotten. This is a twitter thread. Not a review. Reviews take far more time & energy than this. This is just my opinion & anyone who plays a game can have an opinion on it. 🌸 »

« The reality is that the vast majority of indies impacted by this new legalese are tiny indies with tiny budgets doing early access on itch to make sure their games are the best and most bug free they can be before they hit Steam, so think about that before you gloat about this
You're gloating about the 1% in indie game development getting screwed by this when it mainly just fucks up indie devs who are legitimately trying to launch their games on Steam and want to make sure they're not a buggy mess on launch for Steam users
Most indie devs don't have any budget to hire professional QA with, and a ton don't have large enough communities that they can rely on to do free QA for their games, so EA on itch is literally the only method for them to make sure their games are ready for "primetime" on Steam
But y'all have made up your mind already that indies are all greedy monsters angling for EGS deals so...
